Boosting Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF): Curcumin is shown to increase levels of BDNF (a kind of growth hormone) which is linked to Improved Brain Function and lowers the risk of Neurological Diseases. It can be effective in delaying or even reversing many neurological diseases & age-related decrements in brain functioning. At the very least, this is useful in controlling Depression.
Lowering the Risk of Heart Disease: Endothelium is the lining of the blood vessels which regulates blood pressure, blood clotting and various other factors. Curcumin improves the function of the endothelium and hence lowers the risk of contracting heart diseases.
Prevent (perhaps cure) Cancer: It reduces Angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels in tumours), Metastasis (the spread of cancer), as well as contributes to the death of cancerous cells.
Preventing & Treating Alzheimer's Disease: Alzheimer's Disease is related to reduction of antioxidants in the body leading to inflammation. Since turmeric is found to affect both these properties, it is being seen to have an impact on the effects/progression of this disease.
